Town of Colonie “Fines” New Money for its Budget
By Johnny Schifoso
The new year brought the usual Hope and Change sentiment everyone feels at the beginning of a new year. It also brought TONS of new fines on people! The Town of Colonie has found some ne
w ways to instantly raise cash in this fiscally challenging environment. Sources close to Kapitol Magazine and this writer have confirmed that the Town of Colonie has aggressively stepped up its building inspectors’ workload by sending them out in full force and submitting “Order To Remedy Violation’s”.
You are basically being slapped with a violation if your business does not have a Certificate of Occupancy. Do many businesses have them? Apparently not, since our source witnessed multiple Code Enforcement Officers swarming
an entire office park issuing from what we were told, upwards of 60 violations. So, how much are the violations?
Around $200. Do the math: $12,000 in an hour. Not to shabby. That’s just one office park!
In this writer’s opinion, why doesn’t the town just ask everyone in their town, resident and business, to just give a certain amount of dollars to put the budget back in the black? Don’t just shit on peoples head, be up front
with them. Say, “The shitheads in charge before us (Republicans) blew all kinds of money and we need some to get back on track!” I would feel a little more respected KNOWING up front I was going to pay for something.
Don’t sneak up behind me and shove a broomstick in my ass without me knowing about it!
So if you are in violation of Town of Colonie Code 62-23D, apparently a 50 year old law that has rarely been enforced, expect $200 to be whisked out of your coffers!
Gee, what about the malls? They could be even sleazier scumbags and walk into Colonie Center and slap them for as much as possible.
