Cincinnati, OH. based Regent Communications, which operates radio stations in the Albany market (WGNA-FM 107.7 FM, WQBJ-FM 103.5 FM/ WQBK-FM 103.9 FM, WBZZ-FM 105.7FM, WTMM-FM 104.5FM) has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Regent filed a plan of reorganization with the Delaware bankruptcy court on March 1, 2010.  Regent states that the restructuring agreement would provide full recovery for holders of unsecured debt.

Regent owes $204.7 million in secured loans, and plans to eliminate about $87 million of it through the bankruptcy plan.

According to its filings, Regent radio stations rank first or second in revenue share in all of its markets expect in Albany, N.Y., Grand Rapids, Mich., and El Paso, where they ranked third.

Regent was delisted from the NASDAQ stock exchange after failing to raise its share price above $1, the minimum requirement for listing.

Regent operates 62 radio stations in 13 markets and employs 800. According to a statement by Regent, the company said the restructuring will have no impact on day-to-day operations.
